In my experience of knowing and working with Annette in various equestrian capacities over the last 10 + years, I know her to be wise, well informed, intuitive, strong yet compassionate. She has an amazing gift with horses, their response to her is clearly different than with the average person. She has the ability to make the horse feel as secure as possible even when some are working with fear issues, thus getting results in a relatively short time. In addition, she assists the rider/handler in building confidence. Annette has a magnetic personality, always enthusiastic and truly willing to be of service. There is much more that I can say, and stories that I can tell of watching her work with horses and their owners, but I am in hopes this gives some insight to Annette's style and capabilities.

I have had the opportunity to experience Annette's training with several of my own horses, my students, as well as total strangers horses that she new nothing about.
Annette's enthusiasm and energy comes from a TRUE love of horses and their owners/riders.
Two of her techniques that I appreciate is that when she is training a horse, and the horse responds in the correct manner, she REALLY PRAISES them creating a positive atmosphere for the horse. Annette demands respect form the horse, which has to be accomplished, but NOT in a "breaking the spirit" way that a lot of trainers do.
In working with students of ALL ages she trains with encouragement and praise. Annette's SPECIAL ability in relating and reading horses and riders is extraordinary!

From Lori Knight - Uses Annette's Farrier and Training Services
I met Annette when she was visiting the barn where I board 'Joe', my QH gelding.I have had hoof issues since I moved him from the foothills to the mountains and began using the mountain trails. The day I met Annette , Joe was lame with an abscessed front hoof that was so painful he was lying in the pasture and did not want to get up. At the time,I was new at caring for a horse so I was extremely concerned. I had called two farriers-who were unable to come for at least two days. Annette saw that I was having problems and offered to help. She said she couldn't make the foot well right then but she thought she could relieve some of his pain. She stopped what she was doing, grabbed her tools and hiked out though the pasture to Joe. She trimmed the hoof and gave him some pain medication. Joe was able to walk out of the pasture. She spent a couple of hours with him that day. She spent her time explaining what had happened to Joe's foot and what I needed to do to care for it. Over the next few days Annette would call and check on Joe and me. Since that time she has worked with Joe's feet. Joe has not had another abscess. I have always felt that Annette has time or makes time to spend with me and all my questions- not just about horses feet but also advises me, a novice, on practical horse care.

"My wife Barbara and I own two Rocky Mountain horses. I have to admit my approach to their training was “old school” until I had the opportunity a number of years back to observe Annette and her natural horsemanship methods. In fact, I’ve probably learned more from Annette than all the clinics I’ve attended over the years.
Annette has taught me the importance of working on ground basics to build a solid foundation. I consider my gelding CJ an excellent example of her abilities. She has also worked with Barbara and helped her become much more comfortable and confident on her mare Susie.
I believe Annette has a special gift in her ability to communicate with the horse and to share her knowledge with others. I am impressed with her training methods and results, and feel you will be as well."

WE HAVE ATTENDED ANNETTE'S CLINICS AND HER TRAINING AND THE RESULTS WERE VERY IMPRESSIVE. HORSES RESPOND TO HER IN A VERY POSITIVE WAY AND ARE SOON A WILLING PARTNER. SHE NOT ONLY TRAINS THE HORSE BUT ALSO HELPS THE RIDER TO BE A ABLE TO ATTAIN THE SAME RESULTS. THE AUDIENCE IS SOON ENERGIZED WITH HER ENTHUSIASTIC AND INFECTIOUS PERSONALITY.

My wife and I are so pleased to recommend Annette and Double00 Farm. How does one describe a teacher, mentor, and trainer that has qualifications and attitude beyond description? A little over a year ago we were fortunate to be introduced to Annette through the purchase of our horses. We live adjacent to " The Settlement at Thomas Divide," an equestrian community , and decided we wanted to own a horse. It was something that was totally new to us as we had zero knowledge about horses other than being intimidated by their size and maybe a bit fearful of them. A friend of ours told us that she knew of a horse that needed a home badly and would we be interested. With an affirmative reply, we soon met Annette who brought the horse and also her filly to Thomas Divide for us to look at. It was love at first sight for both of them and that day they became ours. We thought you would just put them in a field to eat grass and look at them. How wrong we were.
Annette, however, has given us that feeling of comfort with her confidence and demeanor and from that first day, she became our friend, teacher, mentor and trainer.
First our mare that had been trained by Annette was unbelievable. Her manners were excellent, her disposition about perfect and we discovered her training superb. What we thought would be a passive hobby of looking at our horses, soon became an exciting and fun filled activity. Annette did not push us, but started us at the beginning by encouraging us to just spend time around Scarlett, our new mare, to get to know her. She brought us along from learning first to be comfortable around our horses to retrieving them from the fields, to learning how to properly saddle a horse, to climbing on Scarlett's back for a first lesson. A little over a year later, we are still novices, but we are comfortable. We are learning everyday and one of us even trail riding into the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
We are now working with (Whisper) the filly, who after spending some time at Double 00 Farm, came back to us well along the way of initial training and being a great horse. We have a long way to go to be considered experienced and know we will always be learning, but we do not take any new steps without our friend teacher, and truly our mentor leading us along the way. Needless to say we love our horses and give all the credit to Annette. She is truly gifted when it comes to training horses and teaching their owners.
Of course the amazing part of this story is that I am 70 years old and my wife is not far behind.
Annette is the only person we fully trust with our horses, advice about our horses and now to teach our grandchildren who come visit us and can only talk about Annette and the horses. Thank You Annette for making this time of our lives one of the best times of our lives!
